Important Web Promotion Tips

Are you looking for help to attract extra visitors to your site? Are you unsure as to the best methods of web promotion? If any of your answers to these questions were yes then this article may well be of benefit to you. I have been interested in the web for the last ten years and have been helping people to promote their websites for the last three years. It is not something that I advertise however, as I also have around eighty of my own sites to work on. Over the years I feel that I have learnt a great deal and will share some of the more essential information in this article.

I have been asked many times the following question, what is the single most important factor in web promotion? The simple and truthful answer is patience. I can not stress enough to the people that I work with and other people that I talk to about the subject of website promotion that patience is the key.

People say that article marketing is a great way to promote a website, which it most certainly is. Some people then think that if they write four articles with a link to their site included at the bottom of the article, that they will suddenly see a flood of traffic via improved search engine positions in for example google. When this does not happen they can easily lose this most important quality, patience.

Just ask Christopher Knight, the webmaster of ezinearticles about the percentage of authors who have written under ten articles. These authors must know therefore about the benefits of article marketing but do not have the patience to see it through.

Article marketing does work but it takes time for the results to come through. You should be aiming to write on average one article per day, just wait and see how this will benefit your site after say two years.

Webmasters should in my opinion also be concentrating on obtaining one-way backward links from other sites. I have recently read about people who think that by posting comments on other webmasters blogs will help them, I have to say that this really is a waste of valuable time. The whole point of gaining a backward link is that it is like a vote from another webmaster to your site. Do you really think that google will reward people who in effect vote for themselves?

If you have a new website you can not in reality expect to be placed ahead of older more established sites who have been working on link building for the last few years. Over time and with continued hard work, via for example writing articles, this new site will catch up and move ahead of the older site, but again it does take time, hard work and patience.
